Lancashire Pendle and Forest of Bowland Holiday Cottage

Throstle Hall Country Cottage

Throstle Hall cottage has wifi internet connectivity.

Throstle Hall Cottage snuggles under the “Big End” of Pendle Hill in the beautiful Ribble Valley away from traffic noise, light pollution and civilization. It is not hard to imagine life back in the 1800s when the cottage would have been the original farmhouse to the Brownlow estate.

Located at Brownlow Farm, Twiston, it is 1.5 miles to the village of Barley to the south and similar distance the delightful village of Downham in Ribble Valley.

There are few properties with such a superb outlook over the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales. Pen-Y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, as well as the Trough and Forest of Bowland are all in view on a clear day.

The fully renovated cottage sleeps up to 8 in four bedrooms. From dereliction in 2007/8, we’ve made the cottage an “upside down” house and offer some surprises. The living space is perfect for get togethers, chatting, playing good old fashioned board games, or grabbing a book and sitting on the mezzanine snuggled on the sofa, or just sitting on the doorstep enjoying peace and quiet. The kitchen is large enough for helping hands and the dining area calls you to linger over coffee or a glass or two, enjoying the views all around.

The cottage is accessed via a private track and has parking for 3 – 4 vehicles. There is a terraced grassy areaand a paved patio area for enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings. Wildflowers and wildlife abound in the 15 acres of private farmland, where we have brought the fields back into productivity, and planted over 4500 hedgerow and 400 trees.
